Erawan Museum, Ancient City (Muang Boran) & Bang Pu Recreation Center (BK5)

- 08:00 Pick up from your hotel in Bangkok and travel to the Erawan Museum which is located on the outskirts of Bangkok in a building that is shaped as a three-headed elephant. The Erawan Museum is based on the mythological Airavata and built by a well known antique collector, Lek Viriyapant, who wished to preserve his priceless antique collection as a heritage to the following generations. The massive three headed elephant is made of bronze and weighs 250 tons and is 29m high, 39m long and stands on a 15m high pedestal. The lower two floors are located inside the pedestal while the top floor is located within the belly of the giant elephant.
- The first floor contains a large collection of ancient Chinese vases from the Ming and Qing dynasties and also displays the history of the construction of the museum with photographs and posters. The second floor displays precious antiques and artwork including ceramics and European pottery. The top floor displays Buddha statues and relics from the Lopburi, Ayutthaya, Lanna and Rattanakosin eras, showcasing Thai history.
- After the Erawan Museum you will travel to the Ancient City which is also known as Muang Boran. Ancient City is a huge outdoor museum and has been regarded as one of the largest open-air museums in the world. Ancient City features scaled down replicas of some of Thailand’s most historic sites and here visitors can observe palaces, temples, chedis, shrines, sculptures, tropical gardens and ponds. There is a also a floating market and an old market town. Ancient City as a great place to learn about Thai history and culture in a peaceful and beautiful area.
- Lunch at local restaurant.
- After lunch you will travel to Wat Asokaram which is famous for meditation and also for its lush surroundings. Wat Asokaram is a beautiful white temple and the highlight of this temple complex is Phra Thutangkha Chedi which is a group of 13 stupas that represent 13 duties of a monk. Wat Asokaram is surrounded by trees and plants and is a peaceful and beautiful oasis within natures environment.
- After Wat Asokaram you will then travel to Bang Pu Recreation Center which is a seaside resort located on the Bay of Bangkok. Bang Pu Recreation Center is famous for its mangrove forests which provide habitat for large flocks of migratory seagulls. As well as bird watching, there is Bang Pu Nature Education Center, where you can learn about the mangroves forests and the marine ecosystem that coexist within the local environment.
- 17:00 Return to your hotel.
