- 08:00 Pickup from your hotel in Bangkok and travel to Wat Phra Si Sanphet in Ayutthaya Historical Park. Wat Phra Si Sanphet is a very old temple and is famous for its giant Buddha statue and 3 stupas.
- From Wat Phra Si Sanphet you will travel the short distance to Viharn Phra Mongkol Bopit which is an active temple with daily visitors both local and oversees that visit to worship. Viharn Phra Mongkol Bopit is one of the most significant structures in Ayutthaya Historical Park and the main feature is a large bronze (gilded) Buddha statue which is close to 17 meters high.
- Lunch at local restaurant.
- After lunch you will take a longtail boat ride along the river to visit Wat Chaiwatthanaram which is located on the bank of the Chao Phraya River to the west of Ayutthaya City. Wat Chaiwatthanaram was ordered to be built in 1630 by King Prasat Thong to honor his mother and features the architectural style influenced by the Angkor temples in Cambodia. A feature unique to Wat Chaiwatthanaram is a large, central prang (Khmer-style pagoda) surrounded by smaller prangs which symbolize Mount Sumeru which is the god’s mountain according to Hindu belief.
- After Wat Chaiwatthanaram you will travel by boat to Wat Phutthaisawan which is another significant temple located in Ayutthaya Historical Park. Wat Phutthaisawan is situated on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River and is known for its unique architectural style that combines both Thai and Khmer influences. Wat Phutthaisawan’s main feature is the large ordination hall or ubosot which has distinct Khmer-style prangs (towers) with intricate designs. The prangs are adorned with stucco reliefs and carvings making them an impressive sight to behold. Inside the ubosot visitors can find a significant and revered Buddha image called Phra Buddha Trilokachet (Buddha in the Three Worlds). The Buddha image sits in a seated posture and is beautifully decorated with gold and precious jewels.
- From Wat Phutthaisawan you will then travel by boat to Wat Phanan Choeng which is renowned for its enormous gilded Buddha statue called ‘Phra Buddha Chinnarat’. This statue is one of the most revered Buddha images in Thailand and holds great religious significance for the local people. Phra Buddha Chinnarat is seated in the Subduing Mara posture which represents the Buddha’s victory over the temptations and distractions posed by the demon Mara while he was meditating under the Bodhi tree. This image is highly venerated and devotees come from all over the country to pay their respects and make their offerings.
- After Wat Phanan Choeng you will travel by boat to watch elephants bathing in the river.
